Meet My Lifelong Bestie

Today, I get the honor of introducing to you, my lifelong best friend aka my husband Roger. I say "lifelong," because we have "till death do us part." Therefore, he will remain my best friend for my whole life. This post is to prepare you for tomorrows post. Last week, I felt led by the Lord to ask him if he'd be willing to share his side of the story. I've never really asked him how he felt through this season of barrenness. With a prayer, some hesitation & a night's worth of sleep, he agreed to it. So in preparation to his side of the story, I thought it would be fitting for you to meet him!

Meet Roger. The love of my life. He's my knight and shining armor, and prince charming. He is 4 years older than me. He loves all things basketball & football. Especially the Sea Hawks! He is a full time Security Officer. He is my #1 fan & the greatest supporter. He is a passionate worship leader & is the best guitarist I know. He is an up and rising hiking fanatic. He has a way with kids although he doesn't always have the patience for them. He's outgoing & super friendly! (I think some of that rubbed off on me.) He has a huge servant heart. He is always willing to help anyone in need. He is compassionate. He is vigorous & enthusiastic. He is a great encourager not only to me but to others as well. He is just as a perfectionist with certain things as I am as well. He is super funny. He can put a smile on any ones face! He loves collecting "things." He is the best father to our fur baby. He is a foodie fanatic. He is bold and confident. He is the youngest son in his family of 7 kids. He loves going out on adventures. He hates camera's although I think he's very photogenic. He makes the best ribs & meatloaf. He is all about comfy. He loves his Croc's sandals. When he puts his mind to something, he commits all his effort into it. He works hard to support us in our marriage. He builds me up to be the woman I am today. He dreams big with me. He isn't perfect. I'm not either. But most of all, He is a man that seeks after the heart of God. He loves Jesus and seeks Him daily.

Roger & I have come a long way. I thank the Lord daily for the transformation that He has brought both of us through. I see Jesus when I look at him. He loves me through the good & the bad. He accepts my flaws and embraces me. After all these years, he still tells me I'm beautiful. Everyday. Even when I feel insecure & I have no ounce left within me to love myself. God uses him to remind me of my worth. He makes me laugh and always tries his best to put a smile on my face.

I honestly don't know what I would do without him. He has become a great listener and understanding husband. That makes him the best friend I could ever ask for! Tomorrow, Roger will share his side of the story to our infertility journey. I can't wait to share with you what God has placed on his heart to talk about. I know its not easy, so I want to ask you to pray for courage for the men who are in this with their wives. Men who experience barrenness alongside with their wives. It can be quite difficult for them as well.

It may seem like only women face grievances during infertility, but just because men are more quiet does not mean that they aren't battling some things inside. It never crossed my mind that he would be facing anything until God had spoke to my heart about it. God is doing something beautiful here in this season of barrenness. He is teaching us to love each other & unite us in our sufferings as He builds us up together. Whatever you are facing whether male or female, know that there is hope. There is purpose. And there is a future. We may not know how it'll look like but we hold onto Him. For He is our Creator & Author of life.

Blessings
